STEARNS WELCOMES MARION HONOR FLIGHT TO THE WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL

HELPED WITH LOGISTICS IN BRINGING WORLD WAR II VETERANS TO WASHINGTON, D.C.

Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) met the busloads of World War II veterans from Marion County today at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.  In addition to welcoming the veterans, their family members, medicals staff, and the volunteers, Stearns made brief remarks thanking his fellow veterans for their service.  In addition, Stearns stated, “There are many monuments and memorials in Washington, but for far too long there was a glaring omissions.  I am pleased that this serious oversight was corrected with the World War II Memorial, which was dedicated in May of 2004.”

Members of Stearns staff in Ocala and in Washington assisted the veterans and the volunteers throughout the process.  Honor Flight is dedicated to bringing World War II veterans to the nation’s capital free of charge.
