STEARNS VISITING SANTA FE COMMUNITY COLLEGE ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2008

WILL FOCUS ON HEALTH SCIENCES AND BIOTECH PROGRAMS AND THEIR IMPACT ON JOB GROWTH

Washington, Oct 21, 2008 - “Our nation’s schools are centers for innovation as well as for education, creating new products and jobs,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). “The health sciences are a major source for new jobs, and Alachua County is well positioned to use its health programs for economic development. These are the jobs of the future.”

Stearns will visit the Santa Fe Community College on Wednesday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM. He will tour the Health Sciences, Biotech, and Zoo programs. In addition, he will tour the school’s planetarium for which he secured funding. Santa Fe is located at 3000 NW 83rd Street in Gainesville.
