STEARNS TO JOIN IN GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR NEW REGIONAL VA HEALTH CARE FACILITY IN THE VILLAGES

STEARNS WORKED YEARS TO ESTABLISH THE NEW CLINIC

Washington, Jun 10, 2008 - “Although we designate one day a year as Veterans Day and pay respect to those who serve in the armed forces, I believe that every day we exercise our freedom we also honor our veterans,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala), Deputy Republican Leader of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. “I am proud of my strong record of support in meeting the promises made to our veterans, including providing for their medical care. I look forward to participating in the groundbreaking for the new Regional VA Health Care Facility in The Villages.”

Stearns, an ardent supporter of the new facility, will join the groundbreaking ceremony and provide short remarks. The event will take place on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in The Villages, 8900 SE 165th Mulberry Lane. Added Stearns, “After years of work, I appreciate this chance to join my fellow veterans in beginning the process for opening this new facility. This 90,000-square-foot clinic will offer a broad range of general and specialized care for medical, dental, mental, surgical, psychiatric, and nursing needs. In addition, it will offer audiology, endocrinology, orthopedic, cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, and eye care.”

The clinic is planned to open by Spring 2010. The new facility will serve veterans from Lake, Sumter, and Marion Counties.
