STEARNS TAKES FLORIDA OVER UCLA IN FRIENDLY CONGRESSIONAL BET

PLACES A CASE OF GATORADE AGAINST MOVIE TICKETS WITH REP. HENRY WAXMAN, WHO REPRESENTS UCLA

Washington, Apr 3, 2006 - "I am deeply impressed by the athleticism and discipline of the Florida Gators Men's Basketball Team," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "I commend the team for its successes in the tournament and I look forward to an exciting game tonight. I am very proud to represent the University of Florida." Stearns has entered into a friendly wager with his colleague representing UCLA, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), on the game. "I am putting up a case of Gatorade, which was created at the University of Florida, against Henry's four tickets to the American Film Institute and popcorn."

Last week, Stearns placed a wager with Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), on the outcome of the University of Florida/George Mason University game. Stearns wagered a case of Gatorade against Mars Candy, which is headquartered in Davis's district. "I am confident that the Gators again will carry the day and I look forward to enjoying a good film," added Stearns.
