STEARNS SPEAKING AT GROUNDBREAKING FOR THE FISHER HOUSE AT GAINESVILLE VA MEDICAL CENTER

FISHER HOUSE PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE HOUSING AT MEDICAL FACILITIES FOR FAMILIES VISITING MILITARY PERSONNEL AND VETERANS

 

WASHINGTON, SEPT. 24, 2012 – The Fisher House Program provides housing and other services for family members helping with the recovery of a loved one at major military and VA medical centers.  Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), a senior member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, will be making brief remarks at the groundbreaking for the Fisher House at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville.  “The Fisher House Program is an outstanding example of a private-public partnership that goes a long way toward helping our servicemen men and women and our veterans when they are sick or injured,” said Stearns.  “Since 1990, the Fisher House Program has served 160,000 families.”  The groundbreaking ceremony takes place at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, 1601 S.W. Archer Road.
