WILL COVENE BI-PARTISAN MEETINGS OF ALL FLORIDA MEMBERS TO WORK ON CRUCIAL STATE ISSUES

Washington, Nov 17, 2010 -

Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) was selected today as Chairman of the Florida Republican delegation of 19 members, including seven new Republican freshmen, the largest class of new members in the House of Representatives. The entire delegation with the Democrat members will convene in the first week of the new session in January to elect the Chair of the entire 25-member delegation.  Stearns will lead the House members of Florida in a bipartisan way on addressing issues important to Florida, especially on the economy and creating jobs.

The Florida Republican delegation at 19 is tied with California as the second largest in the House of Representatives, behind Texas.“The Florida delegation is the nation’s fourth largest and with seven freshmen members, the delegation will have great influence,” noted Stearns.  “We share a commitment to advancing the interests of Florida and the people we represent, and I look forward to working with the State’s delegation on our priorities.”
