STEARNS SECURES TOTAL OF $2.85 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR SIX AREA PROGRAMS IN THE OMNIBUS APPROPRIATIONS ACT

OBTAINS FUNDING FOR UF, SANTA FE COLLEGE, ALACHUA COUNTY, AND RTS
 

Washington, Dec 10, 2009 - WASHINGTON, DEC. 10, 2009 – The House today approved H.R. 3288, the Conference Report on the Omnibus Appropriations Act, which represents the agreement between the House and Senate. Stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth), “I am pleased that I was able to secure support for the University of Florida and for Santa Fe College. This includes $350,000 for UF for facilities and equipment; and two programs at Santa Fe College, $450,000 for the clinical laboratory sciences program, and $150,000 for facilities and equipment.”

Added Stearns, “In addition, I obtained funding for two programs for Alachua County, $900,000 for the management of offenders with co-occurring mental illness an addiction disorders, and $250,000 for after school programming. I also succeeded in getting $750,000 for the RTS bus replacement program.” 

H.R. 3288 contains funding for six appropriations bills that failed to pass separately in the House and Senate. These are the Transportation and HUD Appropriations Act; Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Act; Financial Services Appropriations Act, Labor, HHS, Education Appropriations Act, Military Construction/VA Appropriations Act; and State, Foreign Operations Appropriations Act.
