STEARNS SECURES $282,000 FOR EMERGENCY RADIO SYSTEM SERVING LAKE COUNTY

WILL MAKE PRESENTATION AT LAKE COUNTY FIRE STATION 52 IN LADY LAKE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2008

 
 

Washington, Feb 20, 2008 - "One of the top priorities in any emergency situation is establishing a coordinated response, which requires secure communications." Said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "I am very pleased that I was able to obtain $282,000 for an 800 MHz radio system to serve the public safety needs of Lake County during hurricanes, tornadoes, or other emergencies. This radio system will enable Lake County's police, fire, medical, and public safety services to coordinate an emergency response throughout the County."

Stearns will make a presentation of the funds he secured for the 800 MHz at an event on Thursday, February 21, 2008. The event will start at 1:30 PM at Lake County Fire Station 52, 306 W. Hermosa Street in Lady Lake. Also participating in the event will be Lake County Commission Chairman Welton Cadwell, Fire Chief Gary Kaiser, Assistant Chief James Dickerson, and County Manager Cindy Hall.
