Washington, Aug 25, 2009 - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) requested funding for Central Florida Community College (CFCC) in Ocala for curriculum development resulting in a grant of $238,000 from the U.S. Department of Education. “As the needs of our community grows, CFCC is responding by expanding its programs,” said Stearns. “I am pleased that I could secure this grant that will help CFCC expand its course offerings to include four-year degrees.”

The grant covers the two-year period from 9/01/09 through 8/31/11. Added Stearns, “This new program will include the first four-year degrees awarded by CFCC, including a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Management, with specializations in Agribusiness Management, Management Information Systems, and Public Safety Administration and Health Care Management. In addition, the program will include a Bachelor of Science in Education Studies with a specialization in Early Childhood Education.”

The program’s goal is to begin this specialization by August 2010. The grant will be used for curriculum development, purchasing equipment and library materials, and to pilot the first courses.
