STEARNS RECEIVES THE "TAXPAYER'S FRIEND AWARD" FROM THE NATIONAL TAXPAYERS UNION

HONORED FOR HIS RECORD ON REDUCING THE BURDEN ON AMERICAN TAXPAYERS

Washington, Mar 17, 2005 - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) today was named as a recipient of the "Taxpayer's Friend Award" for 2004 by the National Taxpayers Union. "If every Member of Congress had voted as responsibly as Rep. Stearns did in 2004, Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government," said John Berthoud, President, National Taxpayers Union. "Overburdened taxpayers in Florida and across the nation owe Rep. Stearns a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf."

"Each time I cast a vote on a spending bill or a tax measure, I realize that it involves the money of hard working Americans," said Stearns. "I appreciate the support of the National Taxpayers Union in our efforts to control wasteful spending and to reduce the tax burden on the American public."
