STEARNS RECEIVES LETTER FROM PRESIDENT BUSH RECOGNIZING THE REDEDICATION OF THE COUNTY'S VETERANS MEMORIAL

STEARNS CONTACTED WHITE HOUSE FOR THIS SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Washington, Oct 6, 2005 - "It is our duty to remember the sacrifice of America's veterans and to honor the glory they brought to themselves, and to our nation," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "I am proud of the strong support our community provides to her active duty personnel, veterans, reservists, and Guard members; they are in our prayers and in our thoughts. The Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park pays tribute to those who served our nation and reminds the people of Marion County the true cost of their freedom. It was an honor for me to contact the President and ask for a letter recognizing this rededication, showing that our Commander In Chief share our values in cherishing our veterans."

In response to Stearns' request for special recognition, the President submitted the following letter:

I send greetings to those celebrating the rededication of the Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park.

America's veterans exemplify the honor and patriotism that make our country strong. Throughout our Nation's history, these loyal citizens have answered the call of duty and defended our founding ideals. We are grateful to our veterans who have served and sacrificed to advance the cause of freedom, and we are inspired by their example of courage and dedication.

As we work to extend liberty and defeat terrorism, we remember our veterans' enduring accomplishments and honor their commitment to our country. These proud citizens continue to inspire new generations of Americans.

Laura and I send our best wishes. May God bless you, and may God continue to bless America.

[Signed]

George Bush
