STEARNS REACTS TO SUPREME COURT DECISIONS ON TEN COMMANDMENTS

STEARNS INTRODUCED TWO BILLS TO DISPLAY THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IN THE HOUSE, CAPITOL, AND SENATE

Washington, Jun 27, 2005 - "I am pleased that the U.S. Supreme Court decision allows for the public display of the Ten Commandments in a historical context on public land, but I am disappointed about the decision upholding a lower court ruling against the public display of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky courthouses," stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala)."

"The Ten Commandments are a concise set of values outlining the moral code of our society and our common view of right and wrong," said Stearns. "They are an important part of Judeo/Christian values, but these directives also are a declaration of principles that are the cornerstone of a fair and just society - they are both important religious and historical statements."
