STEARNS RATES AN "A" WITH NATIONAL TAXPAYERS UNION - ONE OF ONLY 48 IN HOUSE TO RECEIVE TOP RATING

RATED MOST FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE IN THE FLORIDA DELEGATION - PRESENTED WITH THE TAXPAYERS' FRIEND AWARD

Washington, Mar 23, 2007 - The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) graded the Members of Congress on fiscal responsibility, and gave an "A" to Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala).  Stearns received the highest rating of the Florida delegation and was one of only 48 in the House to receive the top score. "Rep. Stearns' pro-taxpayer score was one of the best in the entire House," stated John Berthoud, President of the NTU.  "By consistently voting to reduce federal spending, taxes, and debt, Cliff Stearns has truly earned the title, 'Taxpayers' Friend.'"

"From my very first day in Congress, I have kept in mind how my votes impacts the American taxpayer," said Stearns.  "I am proud of my record on tax relief and fiscal responsibility, and I deeply appreciate this recognition by the National Taxpayers Union."

The NTU analyzed every roll call vote taken during 2006 and selected all votes that could significantly affect the amounts of federal taxes, spending, debt, or regulatory impact.
