STEARNS PRESENTING MEDALS TO MAURY COLLETT OF GAINESVILLE WHO WAS INJURED IN IRAQ

PRESENTATION AT STEARNS’ GAINESVILLE OFFICE ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH AT 2:00 PM
 

Washington, Feb 5, 2009 - As a veteran, I understand the hardships and sacrifice of military service,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). “I am grateful to the men and women of this nation who step forward to defend our freedom, and I want to ensure that they received the recognition they deserve. I am very proud that we were able to help Maury Collett received the awards he earned in Iraq.” Maury Collett of Gainesville served in Iraq and was injured there in 2004 while on combat patrol in Ramadi. He spent over one year in hospitals recovering from his injuries.

Collett and members of his family will meet with Stearns on Friday, February 6th at 2:00 PM where he will be presented with the medals he earned in combat -- the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, the Global War on Terror Service, the Korea Defense Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. The presentation will take place at Stearns’ Gainesville office at 5700 SW 34th Street, #425 (the Farm Bureau Building).
