STEARNS PRESENTED WITH THE US ONCOLOGY MEDAL OF HONOR

US Oncology, the nation's largest health-care services network devoted exclusively to cancer research and treatment, presented Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) with the US Oncology Medal of Honor. The award is presented each year to valued leaders in the War on Cancer.  "Cancer patients, their families, and their caregivers routinely face challenges that complicate their battle with this terrible disease - challenges that include the nation's nursing shortage, cuts in reimbursements, and healthcare programs that may not keep pace with medical science," stated Dr. Lloyd K. Everson, Vice Chairman of US Oncology. "That is why we are so grateful to you for your steadfast support and action to preserve patient access to community-based cancer care."

"The War on Cancer is essential to the well-being of millions of Americans," stated Stearns, "and I am committed to working with US Oncology and other health providers and advocates to ensure that patients have access to high-quality care. I am honored to receive this award in recognition of my efforts to combat cancer."
