MEASURE RECOGNIZES GATOR'S CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

Washington, Apr 16, 2007 - "I am proud to represent the University of Florida in Congress, and once again, I have the honor of commending the school's outstanding athletic program for winning another national title," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala).  "The Gators are the first team since 1991-92 to won back-to-back national titles and just the seventh team ever to repeat championships."

Stearns today offered a resolution "commending the University of Florida Gators for their historic win in the 2007 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Basketball Tournament."  The entire Florida delegation joined in sponsoring Stearns' resolution.
