STEARNS NAMED "TAXPAYER HERO" BY CITIZENS AGAINST GOVERNMENT WASTE FOR HIS 2010 VOTING RECORD

RECEIVED A 96-PERCENT RATING ON TAX, SPENDING, TRANSPARENCY, AND ACCOUNTABILITY VOTES

WASHINGTON, OCT. 17, 2011 – Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) a “Taxpayer Hero” for his 2010 voting record.  Stearns received a rating of 96 percent, one of the highest in the nation.  According to CAGW, “The ratings separate the praiseworthy from the profligate by evaluating important tax, spending, transparency and accountability measure” based on 46 votes cast in the House.

“Our nation faces high unemployment and a national debt approaching $15 trillion; families throughout the nation facing financial distress are doing with less and the federal government should do the same,” said Stearns.  “I am honored to receive the distinction of ‘Taxpayer Hero’ and I will continue to build upon this record of fiscal responsibility and government accountability.”
