STEARNS JOINS UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AT WHITE HOUSE CELEBRATION

STEARNS OFFERS RESOLUTION HONORING GATORS BASKETBALL TEAM

 
 

Washington, Apr 6, 2006 - "I am honored to join the University of Florida Men's Basketball Team at the White House today in recognition of its first national title in basketball," stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala), who represents the University of Florida. "This is a real honor and I am proud that the University is being recognized for its athletic excellence as well as its strong academic programs." President Bush today welcomed the Gators Men's Basketball Team, along with other NCAA sports champions, on the south lawn of the White House. President Bush recognized each team and praised their role in collegiate sports.

Stearns has gathered the support of the entire Florida delegation on his resolution honoring the University of Florida's Basketball Team. His proposal, H.Res. 761, commends the University of Florida Gators for their historic win in the 2006 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.
