STEARNS JOINING OCALA WORLD WAR II VETERANS TOMORROW FOR WREATH LAYING CEREMONY IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

STEARNS HELPED OCALA HONOR FLIGHT IN ARRANGING THIS VISIT

Washington, Oct 28, 2009 - “World War II was an event that unified the people of our nation like no other time in our history,” stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). “To fight and win on two fronts, Americans had to work and save and ration and sacrifice as never before. As a veteran, I find it a privilege to join in honoring our World War II.”

Stearns worked with Ocala Honor Flight in bringing 101 World War II veterans from the Ocala area to Washington, D.C. on Thursday, October 29th. Stearns will join the veterans at the World War II Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony at the Florida Column. The Ocala veterans also will be visiting the Korean, Lincoln, and Vietnam Memorials, and will view the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.

The veterans will leave Ocala International Airport at 8:00 AM on October 29th and arrive at the World War II Memorial at approximately Noon. Former Senator Bob Dole was invited to join Stearns there in greeting the veterans. They are expected to return to Ocala at approximately 9:00 PM.
