Washington, Jan 12, 2010 - WASHINGTON, JAN. 12, 2010 – “Cecil Field has a distinguished history of serving the region and the nation; first as a military base and now as a commercial center,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth). “The Boeing Company shares that history by equipping our military and by providing vital jobs. Boeing is expanding its presence at Cecil Field by opening the new F/A-18 structural repair facility, giving Cecil the ability to install upgrades, make modifications, and perform structural repairs for any model of F/A-18 aircraft. We welcome the jobs and the additional technical capabilities to the Jacksonville area.”

Boeing is moving its F/A-18 structural repair facility from Phoenix, AZ, to Cecil Field, helping Boeing provide comprehensive aircraft support services in one location. Approximately 60 employees in Arizona have been offered jobs at Cecil. Stearns will join in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new repair facility on Friday, January 15th at 10:00AM. The event also celebrates Boeing’s 10th anniversary at Cecil Field.
