STEARNS JOINING GOV. CRIST THIS AFTERNOON TO SURVEY TORNADO DAMAGE

GOVERNOR FLYING FROM CAPITAL TO LAKE COUNTY

Washington, Feb 2, 2007 - "I joined in asking Governor Crist to view firsthand the damage from this morning's tornados, and I am grateful that he will be in Lake County this afternoon," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala).  "He will be flying down to Brooksville and then take a helicopter to Lake County where I will meet him at the Command & Control Center being set up by the Florida Highway Patrol.  I appreciate this chance to join him and to coordinate our efforts in securing assistance to deal with this disaster.  I think it's vital that the Governor and I see the extent of damage and to reassure the public and local officials that their elected representatives are responding to this emergency."

Stearns represents Florida's Sixth Congressional District, which cover northern Lake County including Lady Lake and The Villages.  The Governor is scheduled to arrive in Lake County by helicopter this afternoon.
