STEARNS HOSTING EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT LEGISLATORS FOR DISCUSSION OF FURTHER U.S./EU COOPERATION

STEARNS, CHAIRMAN OF THE U.S. DELEGATION TO THE TRANSATLANTIC LEGISLATORS DIALOGUE, LEADING BIANNUAL MEETING IN D.C.

WASHINGTON, NOV. 28, 2012 -- As Chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the Transatlantic Legislators Dialogue (TLD), Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) is hosting the bi-annual meeting with European legislators from the European Parliament in Washington, D.C.  The TLD is a forum for Members of the U.S. Congress and Members of the European Parliament to discuss issues of mutual concern, and to reassert the importance of regular open discussions on various political, social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Said Stearns, "The U.S. and E.U. continued partnership through the TLD remains a key opportunity for discussing methods that will increase the transatlantic market place for goods and services in all sectors, especially financial services, telecommunications, utilities, insurance, advertising, computer services and energy."  The TLD alternates meetings between the United States and Europe, with the last meeting being held earlier this year in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Strasbourg, France.

The TLD meeting in Washington, D.C., starts on Friday, November 30, 2012, at 9:00 AM; and concludes on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 12:15 PM.  There will be press opportunities on Friday, at 1:30PM outside of the Budget Committee Hearing Room, 210 Cannon House Office Building, and on Saturday at 12:15PM at the same location.
