STEARNS HONORED WITH FIRST ANNUAL ‘FREEDOM FIGHTER" AWARD PRESENTED BY FREEDOMWORKS

SELECTED FOR CONSISTENTLY VOTING IN DEFENSE OF ECONOMIC FREEDOM

 

WASHINGTON, OCT. 9, 2012 – Rep. Stearns (R-FL) today was presented the first annual “Freedom Fighter” Award by FreedomWorks for his strong record of voting to protect the liberties and economic interests of the American people. FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented, “Our job as engaged citizens is to hold politicians accountable for bad votes, but also to thank them for making the right votes. FreedomWorks congratulates every recipient of the ‘Freedom Fighter” Award, and encourages them to keep up the good fight.”   The rating is based upon 16 key votes cast in 2011, among the votes considered are repeal of ObamaCare, supporting budget reform, capping federal spending at less than 2008 levels, and ending direct subsidies for “green energy” companies.

“We have a responsibility to defend the liberties of the American people and this includes their economic freedom,” said Stearns.  “I’m honored to receive FreedomWorks’ first annual “Freedom Fighter” Award.
