STEARNS HOLDING SECOND HEARING ON PRESIDENT'S PLEDGE TO CONDUCT "LINE-BY-LINE" BUDGET REVIEW TO REDUCE SPENDING

HEARING WILL LOOK AT CUTTING FUNDING FOR THE EPA

 

WASHINGTON, OCT. 11, 2011 – “This is another in a series of hearings that will look at what efforts the Obama Administration is taking to identify wasteful and duplicative spending for elimination,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.  “In this hearing we will examine the results of the Environmental Protection Agency’s  (EPA’s) initiatives to reduce spending when we have a debt exceeding $14 trillion.”

The hearing entitled “Cutting EPA Spending” is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at 10:30 AM in Room 2322 RHOB.  The witnesses will be Barbara J. Bennett, Chief Financial Officer, EPA; Arthur A. Elkins, Jr., Inspector General, EPA; and David C. Trimble, Director, Natural Resources and Environment, Government Accountability Office.
