STEARNS HOLDING OVERSIGHT HEARING ON HEALTH CARE REFORM TWO YEARS AFTER ENACTMENT OF OBAMACARE

PANEL LOOKING AT ROLE OF THE CENTER FOR CONSUMER INFORMATION AND INSURANCE OVERSIGHT

MARCH 20, 2012 – “Two years ago this week, the unpopular Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was enacted,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.  “As part of the subcommittee’s continuing oversight on health care reform, this hearing will review the implementation of this act and the role of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight  (CCIIO) in addressing private health insurance.  Previous hearings dealt with the thousands of PPACA waivers issued and the funding of benefits for early retirees in the public and private sectors.  We will revisit these issues as well as the temporary high risk insurance pools and other aspects of PPACA.”

The Oversight and Investigations subcommittee is holding a hearing entitled “The Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight and the Anniversary of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” on Wednesday, March 21, 20112, at 10:00am in room 2123 RHOB.

Sen. Ron Johnson, (R-WI); and Rep. Donna Edwards, (D-MD).

Panel 2
