STEARNS HOLDING HEARING TODAY TO GET VIEWS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES ON REGULATORY REFORM

HEARING IS PART OF ONGOING SERIES ON ADMINISTRATION'S REGULATORY REFORM AGENDA

"Earlier this year, President Obama issued an executive order for agencies to review their regulations with an eye toward improving their regulatory system to reduce their economic burdens," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. "The Department of Health and Human Services recently released their preliminary review of regulations, and in this hearing we will look at how they conducted this review, what rules are targeted for review, and how the executive order applies to the President's health care law."

Today, the subcommittee is holding a hearing entitled "The Views of the Department of Health and Human Services on Regulatory Reform: An Update," at 2:00 PM in room 2322 RHOB. The witness is Sherry Glied, Assistant Secretary for Policy and Evaluation, Department of Health and Human Services.
