STEARNS COMMENDS TWO DISTRICT ATHLETES WHO COMPETED IN THE PARALYMPIC GAMES IN LONDON

JAIDE CHILDS OF GAINESVILLE AND JERRY SHIELDS OF JACKSONVILLE WERE SELECTED TO REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES

 

SEPTEMBER 11, 2012 – I’m very proud of the very talented athletes I represent in Congress, among them two outstanding individuals who competed for the United States in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL).   “Overcoming their special challenges, they competed at the highest levels in the world games.  I commend Jaide and Jerry for their dedication to athletic excellence.”  Jaide Childs of Gainesville competed in swimming, and Jerry Shields of Jacksonville, a veteran of the U.S. Army, competed in archery.
