STEARNS ATTENDING WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY HONORING FLORIDA GATORS AS THE NATIONAL COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS

STEARNS PRESENTING TEAM WITH AMERICAN FLAG THAT FLEW OVER THE U.S. CAPITOL

Washington, Apr 22, 2009 - “Once again, the White House is recognizing the Florida Gators as the national champions,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth). “It is a distinct honor for me to represent the University of Florida in Congress, and I am proud of the school’s many academic, research, and athletic achievements.” On Thursday, April 23, 2009, the Gators will meet with President Obama at a White House ceremony honoring their BCS national championship title, their second national title in three years. During the event, Stearns will present them team with an American flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol on January 8, 2009, the day they won the championship.
