STEARNS ASKS PRESIDENT OBAMA TO SUPPORT GOV. SCOTT'S REQUEST FOR NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA DISASTER DECLARATION

SCOTT SEEKING EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR BAKER, BRADFORD, COLUMBIA, PASCO, AND WUKULLA COUNTIES IN WAKE OF TROPICAL STORM DEBBY

 

WASHINGTON, JULY 3, 2012 – Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) today joined Rep. Steve Southerland (R-FL) and Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) in writing to President Obama expressing support for Governor Scott’s Disaster Declaration request in response to damage resulting from Tropical Storm Debby.  Said Stearns, “Tropical Storm Debby caused major flooding and infrastructure damage in several Florida communities and I support the Governor’s effort to secure a Disaster Declaration and federal assistance for the counties with significant damage.” The State Emergency Response Team continues to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to conduct Preliminary Damage Assessments in counties impacted by the storm.  These Joint PDA Teams have completed assessments in Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Pasco and Wakulla Counties and will continue working in additional counties as the response efforts progress.
