STEARNS ASKING FOR PUBLIC INPUT ON REDUCING BURDENSOME REGULATIONS

SET UP WEB SITE SECTION WHERE FAMILIES, SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS & OTHERS CAN REPORT REGULATIONS THAT HARM THE ECONOMY

Washington, Feb 2 -

“A report in the Wall Street Journal found that the cost of regulations in the United States rose to $1.75 trillion in 2008, and it is likely higher now,” said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Chairman of the of the Energy & Commerce Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.  “It is the American people who must comply with these regulations and pay their costs, and I am asking them to report any burdensome regulations that hurt the economy.  I am working with the Energy & Commerce Committee to establish this section on the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee’s web page.  Meanwhile, please send ideas and suggestions here:

“I held a hearing yesterday on the Obama Administration’s regulatory agenda, and their witness, Mr. Cass Sunstein, offered to work with the Subcommittee on eliminating those regulations that do not serve the public interest,” added Stearns.  “I am turning to the real experts on regulations, the American people, to help us identify and eliminate those regulations.”
