STEARNS ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF CONGRESSONAL ART COMPETITION

PRAISES THE TALENT OF ALL STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE COMPETITION
 

WASHINGTON, APRIL 30, 2012 – Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) has announced the winners of the Sixth District Congressional Art Competition, an event open to all high schools students who live or attend school in the District.  “We have so many very talented students who submitted artwork for the competition and they all should be proud of their efforts,” said Stearns.

The First Place Winner is Franklin Ritch, St. Johns Country Day School in Orange Park, for his mixed-media collage entitled, “May Go Back For.”   Second Place goes to Alice Cannon, Forest High School in Ocala, for her chalk entitled, “Self Portrait.”  Third Place goes to Samantha Grimes, St. Johns Country Day School in Orange Park, for her mixed-media collage entitled, “Dancing Spirits.” And the Honorable Mention goes to Lauren Hranicky, Buchholz High School in Gainesville, for her chalk entitled, “Chained Emotions.”  In all, 24 students from 7 high schools participated in the competition.

Added Stearns, “I’m grateful to the Appleton Museum of Ocala for hosting this event and to the businesses that provided support and prizes.”
