STEARNS ANNOUNCES SIXTH DISTRICT SERVICE ACADEMY APPOINTMENTS

10 STUDENTS OFFERED APPOINTMENTS

“Having served in the military, I know that our national defense relies on strong and capable leaders, and it is essential that the best and brightest receive appointments to our Service Academies,” stated Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth).  “Making nominations to the Academies is one of my top priorities, and I am very proud of the 10 students who are receiving appointments.  I congratulate them on this distinct honor, and I wish them well during their studies and I thank them for their commitment to serve our nation.”

The following have been offered appointments to one of the U.S. Service Academies:

U.S. Naval Academy

Stanley Hollins - Middleburg Highs School, Middleburg (graduated from NAPS-Naval prep school)
Thomas Broady - First Academy, Leesburg
Alexander Helms -Ridgeview High School, Orange Park

U.S. Military Academy (West Point)

Michael Hughes - West Port High School, Ocala

U.S. Air Force Academy

Mark Richardson - Buchholz High School, Gainesville (graduated USAFA prep school)
Eleanor Simmons - Eagle’s View Academy, Jacksonville
Alissa Fry - Guam High School (resident of Fleming Island and graduated from USAFA prep school)

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

Mickel McGann - Belleview High School (graduated from USMMA prep school)
Michael Youngblood - Fleming Island High School, Fleming Island
Timothy Rice - Newberry High School, Newberry
