FUNDING PROVIDED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Washington, Jul 9, 2008 - Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala) today announced a grant of $394,910 for the Central Florida Community College (CFCC) in Ocala. “The U.S. Department of Education has informed me that it is awarding a grant $394,910 to CFCC of Ocala under its Strengthening Institutions Program,” stated Stearns.

“The purpose of the grant is to help CFCC focus on student success and retention at the school. Since many students entering CFCC are underprepared academically, the school is developing new initiatives to help students succeed and stay on to complete their coursework.” According to the plan submitted by CFCC, the “goals of this project are to significantly increase the percentage of college preparatory students successfully completing required developmental coursework and staying on to pursue college- level learning.”
