STEARNS ANNOUNCES FEMA GRANT OF $1.7 MILLION FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL IN LAKE COUNTY

"The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is providing $1,689,259.13 for debris removal in Lake County to help in cleaning up after the February tornadoes," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala).  "I visited the disaster area with Governor Crist the day after the tornadoes, and I was struck by the amount of debris - vegetation, trees, parts of homes and businesses.  It is estimated that there are 115,000 cubic yards of debris in need of removal.  This is an essential step in rebuilding in Lake County."  The total cost of debris removal is $2,252,345.50, which includes the portion covered by the State of Florida.   Stearns discussed the FEMA grant this morning with the Mayor of Lady Lake, Max Pullen.
