STEARNS ADDRESSING NATIONAL MEETING OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012 IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

FEB. 3, 2012 – Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) will address the national meeting of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) at the organization’s Washington Seminar 2012.  More than 500 members of the NFB throughout the nation will be attending.  “I look forward to joining the NFB again and sharing with them an overview on the legislation affecting the blind,” said Stearns.  “The NFB is an outstanding advocate for the visually impaired and I want to continue to work with them on their issues.”

Stearns worked with the NFB in developing H.R. 3086, the Fair Wages for Workers with Disabilities Act.  Stearns offered this bill on October 4, 2011, to ensure fair wages for the blind.  Previously, Stearns worked with the NFB on the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act, which he introduced in 2010.  This legislation was signed into law in 2011.

The event is being held at the Holiday Inn Washington-Capitol, 550 C Street S.W., in Washington, D.C.  Stearns will speak at 5:30 PM.
