REP. CLIFF STEARNS ANNOUNCES "An Artistic Discovery" SIXTH DISTRICT CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

Each year the Sixth District recognizes the artistic talent and creative spirit of America’s high school students through a nationwide Congressional Art Competition.  Congressman Stearns announces this year’s competition is underway.  Any student living or going to high school in the Sixth District is eligible to enter.

School art teachers should be contacted for guidelines or go to http://stearns.house.gov/district/art_comp.htm for art competition details.Deadline for artwork to be received at The Appleton Museum of Art is April 16, 2010; Awards Ceremony and Reception at The Appleton will be held on April 24, 2010 at 2PM.  All artwork will be on exhibit at The Appleton Museum of Art from April 24 – May 9, 2010.

The First Place student’s winning artwork will be exhibited at the U.S. Capitol for the next year, and the winner is eligible for a scholarship to the acclaimed Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). 

“The talent exhibited by the students is always inspiring.” said Stearns.  “It is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to see their work on exhibit at the prestigious Appleton Museum of Art, and I am appreciative of The Appleton’s continuing support.”

Entries will be judged by Museum Curator Ruth Grim.
