Washington, Jul 7, 2010 -

On Friday, July 9, 2010, Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth) will deliver remarks at an event at Cecil Field in Jacksonville to celebrate Boeing’s winning of the contract to develop the new generation of aerial targets for the U.S. Air Force.  The work on the new aerial targets will take place at Boeing’s facility at Cecil Field.  “I join in congratulating Boeing for winning this contract, which will bring new jobs to Cecil Field,” stated Stearns.  In addition to representing the Cecil Field area, Stearns is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Air Force Caucus.

Boeing was selected for the engineering, manufacturing, and development of the new QF-16 Full Scale Aerial Targets to test newly developed weapons and tactics.  Explained Stearns, “Under the QF-16 project, Boeing will modify retired F-16 aircraft into unpiloted aerial targets that will be equipped to evaluate how U.S. fighters and weapons will operate against the aircraft of potential adversaries.”

The event starts on July 9th at 10:30 AM with an F-16 Fly By, followed by remarks by Stearns and other attendees. There will be media availability at 11:20 AM.  A tour of the facility will occur at 11:35 AM.
