HOUSE APPROVES LEGISLATION HONORING ARTHUR MASTRAPA OF THE 351ST WHO WAS KILLED IN IRAQ

STEARNS JOINED IN OFFERING LEGISLATION TO DESIGNATE THE ARTHUR STACEY MASTRAPA POST OFFICE BUILDING

Washington, Feb 15, 2005 - I appreciate the support of my colleagues in approving this legislation, H.R. 324, honoring the life and sacrifice of Arthur Mastrapa," said Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Ocala). "A member of the 351st Military Police Company (based in Ocala), Sgt. Mastrapa was killed in June, 2004, during a mortar attack in Iraq, only two days before he was to return to the United States. I hope that his wife, two children, other family members, and friends find some comfort in this honor."

The House today approved H.R. 324, cosponsored by Stearns and other Florida members, designating the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 321 Montgomery Road in Altamonte Springs, Florida, as the "Arthur Stacey Mastrapa Post Office Building." In addition to his service in the 351st, Mastrapa was a postal worker assigned to the Altamonte Springs Post Office. Added Stearns, "Although this legislation has yet to be offered in the Senate, I am hopeful that they will join us in honoring this outstanding American."
