(Washington, DC) On May 26, Congressman John Yarmuth welcomed SPC Troy Yocum’s nationwide “Hike for Heroes” to Washington. SPC Yocum is a Louisville native who is in the midst of walking across the country on a 7,800 mile journey to “drum up support” for military families.
SPC Yocum arrived at the Capitol building accompanied by more than a dozen firefighters, veterans, and a police escort. Yocum and Yarmuth met with the press, toured the Capitol and Yocum then visited the White House.
Yocum’s tour has taken him all across the country in a mission to raise funds for military families in need. Thursday marks his first stop in Washington. His tour is expected to end in September in his hometown of Louisville, KY.
