LOUISVILLE -- Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) issued the following statement to mark Labor Day: 

“On Labor Day, we recognize and thank the hardworking men and women who have made this country the most innovative, productive, and prosperous nation in the world. And our gratitude should be expressed in our actions as well as our words. I was proud to be part of the 111th Congress, which increased the minimum wage, expanded worker training programs, and held employers accountable for discriminating against women in the workplace.

“A renewed federal emphasis on innovation has revitalized Louisville manufacturing and brought back hundreds of jobs from China and Mexico. Our nation must remain committed to those investments, to education and job training, and to ending tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. In doing so, we guarantee America will continue to have the strongest workforce in the global economy and ensure every citizen a shot at the American Dream.”
