Congressman Yarmuth Announces Grants Alert Initiative

Program will Help Louisville Organizations Keep up with Federal Funding Opportunities

(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman John Yarmuth (KY-3) unveiled a new grants alert program designed to ensure that Louisville agencies and non-profit organizations are well-informed about the funding opportunities that are available through the federal government as soon as they are announced.  Congressman Yarmuth mailed his first email alert to more than 500 local organizations today.

“With budget constraints at all levels of government, it is more important than ever that local organizations are aware of the most up to date federal funding opportunities,” Congressman Yarmuth said.  “Often organizations do not have the resources to dig through the volumes of information produced by the federal government each day.  That is why I am happy to provide my constituents with this grants alerts program to help them sort through the bureaucracy, stay informed, and take advantage of every available funding resource.”

The services available through Yarmuth grants program include:

•    Frequent Email Alerts
Details on the latest federal grant announcements, including deadlines and contact information.

•    Grant Writing Workshops
Federal agency professionals teaching skills to better seek and acquire grants.

•    Internet Resources
Federal Grants information available here.

•    Application Process Assistance
Assistance tracking applications through the agency review process.

Yarmuth recently held his first workshop for HUD’s SuperNOFA funding, a $2.4 billion grant program that is chiefly responsible for funding 38 federal initiatives.  Deborah Knight, operations specialist for the HUD Louisville Field Office, helped lead the workshop for dozens of local organizations.

Those wishing to sign up for regular grants updates can do so by emailing yarmuthgrants@mail.house.gov. More information can be found in the Grants & Funding section.
