Clay Announces $7.5 Million in Additional Federal Funds

Washington, DC - This afternoon, Congressman Wm. Lacy Clay (D) Missouri, announced that the Federal Transit Administration has approved $7.5 million in operating funds assistance for Metro.  The money to help restore critical bus lines in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County will come from the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Fund.

“This is a great victory for public transportation in the St. Louis region, “said the Congressman.  “I want to salute my colleagues in the Missouri congressional delegation for their united support of this urgent request.  Reliable and safe bus service is critical to getting people to work, especially in these very tough economic times.  These newly approved funds, along with other supplemental dollars and federal recovery funds will allow Metro to restore a significant portion of the cuts to bus service.  That's great news for riders, area businesses and the hard-working employees at Metro.”
