Multnomah County voters have approved a measure to create a library tax district, according to the latest election results.

Measure 26-143 was winning 62 percent to 38 percent, according to the Multnomah County Elections Division.

“We are ecstatic about the results,” County Chair Jeff Cogen said. “Multnomah County voters have spoken, and they've made it clear that they want to see their library system thrive. Their votes have secured permanent funding for one of the most beloved services that we offer. Now we will see hours returned to normal, we will see programs restored and the opportunities for everyone who visits the library branches will be improved.”

Aspiring urban farmers: Apply for the county's Beginning Urban Farming Apprenticeship program

Multnomah County’s Office of Sustainability is now accepting applications for the third season of the innovative Beginning Urban Farming Apprenticeship program (BUFA). Through this intensive, eight-month program aspiring farmers will gain hands-on, in-the-field experience and the skill development needed to break into small-scale, sustainable, urban farming.   


Sellwood students get hands-on lesson in bridge building

Sellwood Bridge School-Based Outreach Program The Sellwood Bridge project is serving as a dynamic learning opportunity for students from several local schools. Several hundred students from Llewellyn Elementary School and Sellwood Middle School visited the construction site in October for a hands-on lesson in how to move a bridge.


Join committee to help advise Multnomah County on sustainability and innovation issues

Multnomah County Office of Sustainability Logo The Advisory Committee on Sustainability and Innovation (ACSI) is now accepting applications. Four spots are available on the 12-member committee, which is comprised of professionals and community leaders who advise Multnomah County on important issues facing our communities, such as energy efficiency and new sustainability-related practices and technologies. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
