Congressman Yarmuth Calls On President to Sign Iraq Supplemental

House Passes Iraq Policy, Bush Vows Veto

(Washington, DC) Today, the House of Representatives approved 218-208 a measure which continues funding for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, increases support for veteran care, and provides an exit strategy from Iraq that is based on the benchmarks set by U.S. generals.  Although the bill contains the funding the President requested, he has promised to veto the legislation.  Following the bill’s passage, Congressman Yarmuth released the following statement urging the President to sign the measure into law:

“What we are doing is sending to the President a policy that not only provides complete support for the troops but gives the President the exit strategy that he’s never had, and which the American people desperately want.  And he would be foolish not to sign it.”
