Biggert Earns Accolades for Small Business Support

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13) today was recognized with the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business for her support of small business growth during the 112th legislative session.  Biggert earned a 92% voting record from the NFIB, which represents 350,000 small and independent business leaders nationwide.  This is the seventh time that Biggert has received the recognition, having earned the Guardian of Small Business Award every term she has served in Congress.

“I sincerely appreciate the support and encouragement of our small business leaders, who represent the best of American entrepreneurship,” said Biggert.  “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, especially in suburban communities like ours where the majority of new jobs have always come from neighborhood businesses.  Just recently, I held a small business fair in Aurora to connect local professionals with new resources and markets.  The top concern raised by employers was the massive tax hike scheduled for January 1st.  The House has voted to stop the hike, but the Senate has yet to act, and this is something that must be fixed before it freezes economic growth.”

In announcing the winners of the coveted Guardian of Small Business award, NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner said, “Once again, Representative Judy Biggert proved that she is a champion of small business. The Guardian of Small Business Award is a legislative award given to U.S. Representatives and Senators who vote to promote and protect the rights of small-business owners to own, operate and grow their businesses.”
