WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), senior member of the Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement after today’s announcement that Mary Schapiro would be leaving as Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in December:

"Mary Schapiro was a strong voice for investors and market integrity during her term, which followed the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Under her watch, the agency's management has been overhauled and the SEC has brought a record-high number of enforcement actions. She leaves the agency in far better shape than she found it, and I wish her all the best."
