LANCE VISITS THE WESTFIELD COMMUNITY CENTER

Seventh District Lawmaker Holds Listening Session in Union County

WESTFIELD, NJ – Today, Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) visited the Westfield Community Center to hold a listening session with area residents.

During the visit, Lance discussed important issues before the Congress and answered questions from members of the community. Lance noted residents were most concerned about the state of the American economy, growing levels of debt and rising energy prices.

"I enjoyed talking with Union County residents about the important issues facing our Nation,” said Lance.   “I appreciated the opportunity to listen to residents express their views on a wide range of issues including the state of the American economy and about rising energy prices.”

Congressman Lance also noted that as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee he is working to enact legislation to help bring down fuel prices, create more American jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign energy.

"Gas prices in New Jersey are on the rise and Congress and the President must work in a bipartisan fashion to adopt an 'all-of-the-above' energy policy," Lance said.  "More energy production would help address rising gas prices.  We must pass bills that remove government barriers to energy production to address high gas prices and create new jobs."

Additionally, members of Lance’s staff were on hand to assist residents who were experiencing difficulties with federal agencies, such as the IRS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs or any other federal agency.
