LANCE TO VISIT U.S. NAVAL BASE GUANTANAMO BAY FRIDAY, MAY 20

WASHINGTON – On Friday, May 20, Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) will participate in a daylong, bipartisan congressional visit to the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  The trip is a fact-finding mission in the wake of the series of intelligence breakthroughs that led to the discovery and death of Usama bin Laden and the continuing debate on the closure of Guantanamo Bay.

During the visit, Lance is expected to receive classified briefings from U.S. military leaders operating the detention center, tour of the base and detention center and meet with New Jersey soldiers stationed there.

The bipartisan, bicameral delegation will include: U.S. Sens. James Inhofe (R-OK) and John Boozman (R-AR) and U.S. Reps. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA), David Schweikert (R-AZ) and David McKinley (R-WV).

NOTE:  Members of the press interested in speaking with Congressman Lance following his return from U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay should contact Angie Lundberg at 202-225-5361.
