LANCE TO HOST FREE HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCIAL AID FORUM FOR PARENTS, STUDENTS

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – In an effort to help many New Jersey families struggling with the rising cost of higher education, Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) will host an education forum with financial aid experts from several New Jersey universities.

Lance’s forum will allow participants to ask questions of participating college financial aid representatives about how the college financial aid process works and what types of aid are available. For example, information will be shared about the various types of federal and private grants, loans and scholarships that are available to students and their families as they plan for college.

“This financial aid forum will be a unique opportunity for parents and students to interact with financial aid directors and officers to better prepare for the expense of higher education,” Congressman Lance said.

Lance’s financial aid event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Mon., Nov. 23 at Colonia High School located at 180 East Street in Colonia. The event is free and open to the public.

Joining Congressman Lance will be representatives from Centenary College, Rutgers University and Middlesex County Community College. Lynnette Khalfani-Cox author of “Zero Debt for College Grads” will also attend and deliver a presentation on preparing for the financial responsibilities of higher education.

Residents with questions should contact Dave Glass in Lance’s Westfield Office at (908) 518-7733 for more information.

Earlier this year, Lance held a similar financial aid forum at Raritan Valley Community College and several hundred Garden State residents attended. Lance said he was holding the event in Colonia, in a direct response from Union and Middlesex County educators to hold another similar event once the school year began.
