WASHINGTON – Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) issued the following statement regarding the Palestinian Authority’s action in the United Nations.

“The only way to achieve true and lasting peace is for direct negotiations to take place between Israel and the Palestinian Authority – as was agreed to in the Oslo Accords.

“The Palestinian Authority’s actions at the United Nations are dangerous and move the Arab-Israeli peace process in the wrong direction.

“There must be consequences to these recent actions in the UN. As a result I call for a careful review of U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority and whether the PLO should be allowed to continue operating an office in Washington.

“Israel is one of America’s greatest allies and I urge President Obama to reaffirm America’s commitment to Israel before the international community.”
